Solicitor's Permits and Registrations

Solicitor permitting and registration are processes to review selling activity to prevent unreasonable danger to the health, safety, or welfare of the public, the seller(s), or others, in the best interest of the community.


Door-to-Door/Direct Seller Requirements

The City of La Porte requires a completed Application for a Canvasser, Solicitor, or Peddler's License/Solicitor's Permit for any individual, firm, organization, or corporation (as well as their representatives, agents, and employees) in the city that engages in the business of selling or offering for sale any goods or merchandise door-to-door in residential areas or on a direct seller basis.

Charitable organizations, business-to-business, selling for a profit from another business's property, and food trucks


Charitable organizations, food trucks, for-profit businesses selling on business properties, or going business-to-business, and other similar activity requires a Solicitor's Registration. Click here for more information.


Other Business Activity

Business may also include surveying, polling, or otherwise conducting a query from a person in order to obtain information or opinions to be analyzed from house to house or from place to place. These types of sales occur from a vehicle, in a temporary rental space, or from house to house or place to place.
