Mayor Louis R. Rigby is a lifetime resident of La Porte who attended San Jacinto College before graduating from the University of Houston and then earning an MPA from University of Houston-Clear Lake. He performed military duty for the nation in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1972 and has provided service to our community as the District 5 Councilperson from 2004 until 2010, when he was then elected as Mayor.
Mayor Rigby is a member and past Director of the La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce and has held the offices of Treasurer, Vice President (twice), and President of the Harris County Mayors and Councils Association. He and his wife Marlene have two adult sons. In his spare time, the Mayor enjoys reading, hunting, fishing, and golf.
