Public Safety

The low crime rate and excellent response time for emergency calls makes La Porte a safe and welcoming place for families.

The La Porte Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is an organized group of full-time Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) and paramedics serving La Porte area homes and businesses.

The La Porte Volunteer Fire Department (LPFD) is a professional fire fighting organization that provides quality fire protection and prevention services to the community of La Porte and surrounding areas.

The La Porte Police Department has implemented several community programs to improve the quality of life for residents of La Porte.  These programs include: the Citizens Police Academy, National Night Out, Public Safety Pool Parties, Summer Day Camp, Explorer Program, Operation ID, home security surveys, child safe gun lock, and the neighborhood watch as a cooperative effort using simple techniques to deter, delay, and detect crime.

The La Porte Office of Emergency Management works with organizations throughout the city to plan and train for both natural and man-made disasters, as well as to coordinate response and recovery efforts when an emergency occurs.
