2007 Paramedic of the Year
Shawn Hargrove
The 2007 award for "Paramedic of the Year" went to an individual that had demonstrated an outstanding level of performance and professionalism during the past year.
She has been with our department for over 8 years and has received several promotions, she is very involved in many daily activities and participates regularly in additional activities within our department including being a bike medic, honor guard and assisting with the immunization program. You very seldom see a frown on her face and she is always willing to help anyone in need.
2006 Paramedic of the Year
Derek Hunt
The 2006 award for "Paramedic of the Year" went to an individual that had demonstrated an outstanding level of performance and professionalism during the past year.
Derek Hunt’s paramedical knowledge and skills are commendable and his dedication to the field of EMS is inspiring.
Hunt has sought out additional responsibilities and training to include obtaining his IPMBA Bike medic certification and Tactical Medic Training. Hunt is currently assigned to the La Porte PD Tactical Team and LPEMS Bike Medic Team.

2005 Paramedic of the Year
Bryan Dean
The 2005 award for "Paramedic of the Year" went to an individual that had demonstrated an outstanding level of performance and professionalism during the past year.
Dean's paramedical knowledge and skills are commendable and his dedication to the field of EMS is inspiring.
Dean was previously a Paramedic for the City of La Porte from 1996 to 1998 and unfortunately had to resign due to his wife completing medical school here in Houston and then being accepted to do her residency in North Carolina.
Dean returned back to the Houston area with his family in 2004 and was immediately rehired. Dean currently holds the rank of P-III and is in charge of in-house training and is also a step up supervisor as needed.
