  1. When are taxes billed?
    Bills are mailed in October
  2. When are taxes due?
    Taxes are due upon receipt and are due no later than January 31.
  3. Who do I call if I did not receive a bill?
    All taxing Authorities that tax your property.
  4. What happens if I do not pay my taxes by the due date?
    Penalty and interest shall accrue on the unpaid tax as follows:

    11%
    May
    13%
    June
    15%
    July
    18%

    On July 1, all unpaid taxes are turned over to the delinquent tax attorneys for collection and are also subject to a 15% attorney fee.

  6. What are my responsibilities?
    You must apply for the general exemption before the deadlines in the appraisal district where your property is located. You must see that your property is listed correctly on the tax records with your correct name, current address and property description. You must pay your taxes on time.

  8. What is the Tax Calendar?

    The following are important dates in the Tax calendar year:
    January 1 Date that determins taxable and exemption status.
    April 4 Last day for property owners to file renditions.
    May 30 Applications due for 1-d and 1-d-1 AG Use / Timber Wildlife
    June 2 Deadline for filing written protests to the Appraisal Review Board (or by the 30th day after a notice of appraised value is mailed to the property owner, whichever is later).
    October 1-31 Tax bills are usually mailed during this month.
    January 31 of the following year Last day to pay property taxes without penalty and interest.
  9. I paid off my house and my mortgage company will not be paying my taxes this year, what should I do?
    Contact the La Porte Tax Office, at (281) 471-5020, to have them mail you a bill and submit a letter in writing that you would like all future statements mailed directly to you.
