The City of La Porte's Main Street district is re-emerging as a thriving downtown community. An important element of La Porte's history, Main Street offers an appealing hometown atmosphere in a unique bay front setting.

The purpose of the Main Street Program is to continue revitalizing Main Street through historic preservation. The program utilizes a community-driven, comprehensive methodology used to revitalize older, traditional business districts throughout the United States. This methodology employs a four-point approach that focuses on the following areas: Design, Economic Restructuring, Promotion and Organization.

La Porte is proud to be a part of the Texas Main Street Program, as well as the National Main Street Center.
