If you have a story about the early days of Main Street in La Porte, we want to hear it!
The City of La Porte Main Street Program is seeking stories about La Porte’s early days as the "playground of the south" for a video podcast series to be broadcast on YouTube later this year. Anyone who has a story about pre-1950 La Porte, particularly in the Main Street area, is encouraged to fill out a submission form and return it no later than August 15. We are especially interested in stories relating to the following: - Early (pre-1960) Main Street businesses
- Main Street buildings and their early uses
- Early Main Street events (fairs, festivals, parties, etc.)
- Early Main Street landmarks
- Significant Main Street milestones or "firsts."
In addition to the video series, the project will also result in a matching print version of the stories with photographs and a short video montage that will be shown at the Fall Back Festival on October 10.
