Lieutenant Matt Daeumer joined the La Porte Police Department in 1987, after completing the academy at Alvin Community College. As a Patrol Officer, Matt initially served among various line units and also became a member of the Department SWAT Team. He later served with the Harris County Organized Crime and Narcotic Task Force and in 1994 was presented with the Texas Narcotic Officer’s Association’s, Narcotic Officer of the Year. Following his service with the Task Force, Matt took on the role of investigator with the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division until he promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1997.
During his tenure as a Sergeant, Matt engaged in various supervisory assignments such as Patrol, Support Services, Range Master, and SWAT. In 2009, he promoted to his present rank of Lieutenant and is currently assigned as the Night-Shift Watch Commander. In addition to his Patrol duties, Lieutenant Daeumer is also tasked with the additional role of Project Manager for the La Porte Police Department’s OSSI Records Management System.
Lieutenant Daeumer is a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Institute’s Leadership Command College and holds both Master Peace Officer and Instructor Certifications from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership, with honors, from Mountain State University and has also acquired several additional college hours in the fields of Criminal Justice and Civil Engineering from various institutions such as The University of Houston, Alvin Community College, and San Jacinto College.
Matt has three children (Lauren, Brittany, & Mia) and has been married to his wife Cherell since 2001.
