| Northside Neighborhood Plan UpdateIn 2000, the City adopted the Northside Neighborhood Plan, a tool used to revitalize the Northside Neighborhood in accordance with the goals and objectives established by the residents and business owners in the area. The Plan highlighted a number of issues in the community, which resulted in proactive solutions such as increased presence of law enforcement, construction of affordable housing options, and removal of unwanted dangerous buildings. Now, ten years later, and based upon community input, several recommendations have been suggested for updating the Plan. A neighborhood meeting was held on November 10, 2011, to gain an understanding of the wants and needs of the community and to identify what may be missing in the current community fabric. Proposed recommendations were presented at a second meeting held on January 24, 2012. A prioritization document was distributed to the Northside residents with copies also made available at the Jennie Riley Center and on the City’s website. On March 29, 2012, the final presentation of findings was made at the Northside Neighborhood meeting and on April 23, 2012, City Council approved the plan update. The Northside community is energized and looking forward to the implementation of the Northside Neighborhood Plan update.
