The City of La Porte has always prided itself on being a low crime and tight-knit community to live in and, this week, Safewise.com named La Porte the 25th safest city to live in in Texas.
The safety and security company expressed that they were impressed with all aspects of La Porte, announcing, “If you are in search of an affordable water community that’s also safe and oozes small town charm you’ve just found it.”
Not only did the city, as quoted on the Safewise website, have only 10 robberies and 18 aggravated assault reports in 2011, the Police Department also announced in its 2012 annual report that the city’s crime rate was down yet another 5.7% from 2011.
“A genuinely safe city can only be achieved when the community and local law enforcement share a positive working relationship” said La Porte Police Chief Ken Adcox. “We are so fortunate to have multiple volunteers and other community members who wholeheartedly believe in the success of our city. Such relationships, coupled with the dedicated men and women within our police organization, are the true key for success.”
City Manager Corby Alexander expressed his appreciation for the hard work of the police department and their volunteers. “One of the City’s core values is maintaining superior public infrastructure and public safety services, and the Police Department continues to excel in that area," said Alexander.
