Solicitor's Permits and Registrations

Solicitor permitting and registration are processes to review selling activity to prevent unreasonable danger to the health, safety, or welfare of the public, the seller(s), or others, in the best interest of the community.

Door-to-Door/Direct Seller Requirements

The City of La Porte requires a completed Application for a Canvasser, Solicitor, or Peddler's License/Solicitor's Permit for any individual, firm, organization, or corporation (as well as their representatives, agents, and employees) in the city that engages in the business of selling or offering for sale any goods or merchandise door-to-door in residential areas or on a direct seller basis. This includes non-stationary ice cream/frozen treat trucks that drive in residential areas.
