Animal Shelter Advisory Committee
Meetings are set by the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, and the committee is to meet at least three times a year. There are no term limits.The goal of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee is to assist the Animal Control Shelter in complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety Code as it relates the standards for the Animal Shelter.
The members are:
- Chief of the La Porte Rabies Control Authority or their designee
- State-certified Animal Control officer employed with the City of La Porte & whose duties include the daily operations of the La Porte Animal Shelter
- Veterinarian

Drainage and Flooding Committee

Members include three councilpersons and one alternate position that is filled by a councilperson. Members are retained until they are replaced.
The purpose of the committee is to review issues regarding the drainage and flooding issues within the City of La Porte and provide Council with recommendations. Members are appointed by the Mayor and City Council.
Fiscal Affairs Committee

Members include three councilpersons and one alternate position that is filled by a councilperson. Members are retained until they are replaced. The staff liaison is the Finance Director.
An audit/fiscal affairs committee is a group of individuals appointed by the legislative body. They are given responsibility for overseeing audit procurement and monitoring the selection of the independent auditor to the resolution of audit findings. The members of the fiscal affairs committee collectively posses the expertise and experience in accounting, auditing, and finance reporting required to understand and resolve issues raised by the independent audit of the financial statements.
