S.W.A.T Members
The La Porte Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team consists of an authorized strength of 12 sworn police department members. They are skilled in handling various special threat situations such as Barricaded Subjects, Hostage Takers, Sniper situations, and other life threatening events that are beyond the scope and resources of the Patrol Division’s response capabilities.
Weapons & Devices
S.W.A.T. situations are unique in nature in that they require specially trained officers. These officers are equipped with special weapons and equipment to include, but not limited to, such things as sub machine guns, specialized rifles, diversionary devices, chemical agents, impact munitions, breaching equipment, and many other response tools.

Tactical Medic Team
In addition to joint training and call-out operations with the Baytown Police Department, LPPD's S.W.A.T. team is also accompanied by a specially trained tactical medic team who are active members of the La Porte E.M.S. staff
