Citizen's Volunteer Program

The La Porte Police Department’s Volunteer Program was started in March of 2009 and is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Although the program consists primarily of citizens who have completed the Citizen's Police Academy, it is not a requirement to become a volunteer. The main objective of the program is to foster teamwork between the Police Department and the citizens we serve.

Goals of the Program

Additional goals for the program are to give volunteers a basic understanding of the daily operations of the Police Department, gain assistance from our volunteers with upcoming community events, and provide an opportunity for Volunteers to serve the community in which they live.

Community Events

Our volunteers assist the Police Department with community events such as:

  • Christmas on Main Street
  • Fourth of July Festivities
  • National Night Out
  • National Police Week
  • Sylvan Beach Day
  • The City of La Porte Health and Safety Fair
  • The Battle of San Jacinto Triathlon

In addition to these events, some of our volunteers will have an opportunity to be a part of the day-to-day operations at the police station by providing help in various departments such as our Crime Victims Liaison’s Office and the Records Division.
