Lisa M. Camp became the 5th Chief for the City of La Porte Emergency Medical Service on June 12, 2019.


Chief Camp began her EMS career when she was 17 years of age by joining the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department in Friendswood, TX as a Firefighter / EMT. She completed her Paramedic training in 1987 becoming a Certified Paramedic and then later became a Licensed Paramedic in 2000. She has been a career emergency medical professional, serving for the City of La Porte Emergency Medical Service, since October of 1991.


Camp has promoted up through the ranks from Paramedic-I to EMS Chief. She has coordinated the CE / Training Program, Community CPR Training, Childhood Immunization Program, and has played an intricate part in SDO / Protocol development during her tenure here at La Porte EMS.


Chief Camp has a Bachelor's degree in Public Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and completed her Certificate of Public Manager (CPM) program at Sam Houston State University.


In her spare time she serves as the EMS Chief for the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department - EMS Division, a position she has held since 1995. In 2002 she was awarded the Texas Department of Health's EMS Administrator of the Year for her involvement with Friendswood EMS and in 2010 she was named the National Paramedic of the Year by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.


When not on duty, Assistant Chief Camp enjoys spending time with family and friends, yoga, traveling and working with child safety programs.
