Can I submit a resume instead of completing a job application?: No, each applicant must have a completed application in order to be considered for a position. An applicant, however, may include a cover letter and resume if they choose to.

1. Are all City employees eligible for benefits?: Only full-time employees are eligible for benefits. To view a listing of benefits, please visit the Employee Benefits page.

2. Are there any current job openings?: To view a listing of all open positions, visit our Careers page.

3. Can I submit a resume instead of completing a job application?: No, each applicant must have a completed application in order to be considered for a position. An applicant, however, may include a cover letter and resume if they choose to.

4. Does the City have a Jobline?: No, we currently do not have an active jobline. You can view all open positions online on our Careers page.

5. Does the City have a Police Cadet program?: Yes. Civil Service Entrance Exam for entry to the Police Cadet program will be listed on the Employment page.

6. How long does my application stay on file?: We do not keep applications on file. For each position an applicant is interested in applying for, he or she must complete a separate application for each.

7. Should I turn in a resume with my application?: You may submit a resume with a completed application and they will be processed together. However, be certain to completely fill out the City of La Porte application linked to in the employment opportunity of your choice in order to be considered for any position!

8. What if the City damages my personal property?: Contact Human Resources at 281-470-5025 and ask to speak to the HR Manager.

9. What is the process after I have submitted my application?: As soon as you are finished with your online application, an email is sent directly to the supervisor to alert them that you have applied! On that email is a link to your application that takes them directly to it for them to review!

After a position has been filled, it is immediately taken off of the website and job posting.

10. When is the next Civil Service exam?: View the employment page for the application and testing information.

11. How do I apply for a position?: Only applications submitted through the online application process will be accepted. To apply for a vacant positions, visit our Careers page. We only accept online applications for vacant/listed positions.

12. Does the City have any Police Officer openings?: To find out if the Police Department has an opening, please visit the Police Department's Employment page.
